It was a glorious winters day??at Hudson’s in Stellenbosch when Shannon and Davidene said their I-dos. Although it was cloudy and slightly drizzly, it was still a beautiful day and the weather certainly didn’t dampen their spirits!
When I met with the couple earlier this year for their engagement session, I was immediately excited for their wedding day. I knew it was going to be something special and as the last one of my wedding season, it certainly was!

The first stop of the day was to meet up with Shannon and his groomsmen to photograph them getting ready. The mood was light and fun as I got photos of them getting dressed and helping Shannon with his bowtie and amazing deep maroon velvet (velour?) jacket. We got some great getting ready shots in front of the stylish blue couch and popped off to get photos of the bride.
Davidene got ready at the accommdation on the Hudson’s venue property, and as I walked in I was met with smiles and laughter and just the best atmosphere. Everybody was chatting and barely even noticed as I was doing the detail photos of Davidene’s accessories. The bridesmaids popped some champagne and we had a million laughs as they jumped on the bed, and leisurely sipped on their glasses of bubbly.

Davidene looked so stunning her lace gown and her elegant side swept hair, and she was so easy to photograph, just totally relaxed and let me do what I had to do to get great photos. When she walked down the aisle with her mom and dad, I could see Shannon’s heart stop at the sight of her. It was a sweet and short ceremony, which ended off with a very dramatic first kiss!

We immediately set about doing couple photos, because sunset was not far away and I wanted to make the most of the light outside. They braved the slight drizzle and were the first couple to make use of my emergency umbrella which I keep in the car! When a couple is this in love, photographing them makes it easy, and the gardens at Hudson’s showed off their best and greenest side for these shots.
I love winter weddings, and I am always so pleased when they turn out??this beautifully!
