Jacomie & Cornel | Elopement | Koel Bay | Gordons Bay | Cape Town
I called this an elopement, although that’s not exactly true. Jacomie & Cornel contacted me because they really wanted to take some last photos in their wedding outfits before storing them away. They had an idea of a beach shoot, which wasn’t possible at their winelands wedding and of course I was on board, 100%!
I love doing these types of shoot – sometimes called “trash the dress”, I think “rock the frock” is a bit nicer and doesn’t imply that the dress will be ruined!
Koel Bay is one of my favourite beaches to shoot at. It’s relatively quiet, has some protection from the wind and just has the most beautiful mountain views. You just need to keep a beady eye out for baboons…
I had so much fun meeting Jacomie & Cornel and photographing them – we took our time, waiting for the tide to recede a little so that we could get to some of the quieter spots on the beach and generally just ran around the beach feeling pretty!
Overall, a big success! I think these photos turned out beautifully – and for all those brides who still have their dresses – it’s never too late to take more photos in it! 😉
