Nina & Curtis | Wedding | Cape Point Vineyards | Cape Town
Wow! What a wedding! I know Nina through the dance world, I was so thrilled when she asked me to be her wedding photographer!
I met Nina and Curtis once before at their engagement shoot and I knew their wedding day would be amazing, and it did not disappoint! It was one of those 39 degree days we had in early January, but this had zero effect on anybody – least of all the couple!
Nina got ready at her parents house and it was a little emotional, as her dad had recently passed away and couldn’t be there with his little girl. Nina honoured his presence by adding his cufflinks to her bouquet, so that he could still walk with her down the aisle. These little touches on wedding days really do make all the difference.
It wasn’t my first time shooting a wedding at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Retreat, and it was like visiting an old friend. It’s a beautiful church and the ceremony was filled with promises of love and faith. It was wonderful to witness.
With the reception at Cape Point Vineyards in Noordhoek, we took off immediately after the ceremony to get decor shot and bridal party photos. We hid from the sun, in the shade of the trees for these photos, and I think they really turned out beautifully. In summertime, the sun sets so late, that having couple photos before the reception isn’t always ideal, so I like to sneak out and get those photos just before sunset, and I’m so glad we did the same in this case. The couple photos of Nina and Curtis are absolutely stunning and well worth the wait for the right light.
I wish them both all of the best, and Nina… I’ll see you on stage 😉
