After a totally fabulous engagement shoot last year, I was counting down the days until Justin & Sonya’s wedding! These two are such wonderful people with a great sense of humour and a lightness of spirit – being around them brings such joy to everybody and it was a huge pleasure to see that in action.

I first popped in to see and photograph Justin and his groomsmen. They had such great little details, all set out for me (win!) and it made the process of photographing everything a breeze. Besides me hanging the suits on a curtain rod and breaking it (sorry!!), it went super smoothly and the guys even had time for a drink before I headed off to the ladies.

Sonya and her bridesmaids just had to get some photos in their gorgeous floral gowns – and they were all made up with hair and makeup by the time I got there – which was a total win! Sonya has such amazing taste and all the details she set aside for me is a reflection of that. The laser cut invite was a favourite item of mine to photograph – along with their unique rings. Before I knew it, the ladies were popping champagne and cheers-ing to Sonya’s new adventure!

We headed over to the church, where Sonya requested that I don’t take photos during the sermon. I rarely do, as I feel this is the perfect time for the couple to really focus on the beautiful message that is so lovingly hand crafted to suit them.

After the ceremony, we headed to Barrique at Vredenheim in Stellenbosch for the cocktail hour and some couple photos. A light rain came down during the bridal party photos, but you would never tell that from looking at the photos! They were such troopers and I got some stunning photos!

The couple shoot was easy, relaxed and so much fun! We just wandered around the gardens and got some super cute and cheeky photos of the newlyweds!

It came time for the reception – which was such a party! Her bridesmaids planned a special little Spice Girls reunion where they did a little dance to one of their favourite Spice Girls songs. I don’t think there was a women under 35 in that reception that wasn’t dancing and singing along! (We know you know all the words… 😉 ) The dancing began with Sonya and her dad opening the dance floor and Justin taking over after that. Such sweet little moments and so much giggling throughout the fabulous reception!

Sonya & Justin, thank you so much for including me in your stunning day! It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you in the lead up to this massive occasion! You have such a fun journey ahead of you – separate you are both incredible, together you are conquerors! I can’t wait to see what you accomplish!
