Susan & Grant | Wedding | Nelsons Creek | Paarl

Susan and Grant said their I-do’s a little over a month ago, and here are the photos of their special wedding day! I had the opportunity to shoot at a new venue for their wedding, which is Nelson’s Creek in Paarl. Well, the venue was new for me. 🙂
It’s a stunning location, and a total hidden gem. The entire surroundings are quite stunning and I had no shortage of beautiful photo spots!

Susan got ready on the property surrounded by her sisters and her mom (who made her dress !! How stunning!) and the room was filled with excitement and nerves as everybody finished up with makeup and putting on their gorgeous jewel toned bridesmaids dresses (by Jacoba Clothing). I shoo-d everybody out of the room to get some quiet portraits of Susan on her own, which is always such a special time for me to spend with the bride.

Susan walked down the aisle in a blaze of sunlight and the ceremony was perfection. Set in the forest on the other side of the property, it was perfectly peaceful and the best setting possible for the vows. Susan and Grant signed the register back at the venue and we immediately started with the bridal party photos.
I loved photographing the bridal party – Susan’s relationship with her 3 sisters reminded me so much of my own and there were so many giggles and sisterly moments packed into this entire day.

The couple session was loads of fun, and we were lucky that Susan’s brother in law, Jaco drove us around to all the best places on the property to waste no time in getting amazing photos. (Thanks Jaco!) Susan and Grant were at total ease for their couple photos, which just makes me even more thankful for engagement shoots that get all the awkwardness out of the way before the wedding day.

The reception was a total delight – the speeches were so heartfelt and it was immediately clear that Susan and Grant are so well loved. It was a family effort to put the wedding together and that showed in all the details like the cake, the dresses, and the decor. I hear??a lot of speeches at weddings, but Susan’s dad’s speech really stuck with me. He eloquently spoke of marriage, and the role that both people play in making a marriage work.??It was a wonderfully modern take on marriage, and he added to old adages in an updated way that spoke to a lot of guests.

We took a slight detour to the top of the venue to take some family photos and I could not stop giggling. These families are so much fun and compliment each other so well, it really is a blessed union!

Susan and Grant – you are so well loved by your family and friends. You are both such wonderful and gentle souls and I count myself lucky to have been a part of your beautiful wedding day. Thank you! <3
