Melissa & Conrad | Wedding | Gabrielskloof | Botrivier

What a fabulous wedding day! From start to finish, it was so beautiful, organised and fun! Conrad & Melissa have set the bar very (very) high for the rest of my 2017 weddings. Before I get into the wedding day story, I need to tell you that Conrad was the brains behind this entire wedding day, and I am thrilled to say that he pulled it all off effortlessly. From the decor, to the ceremony – every little detail was perfection.

Getting married in January always comes with challenges. The heat, the wind, the late-setting sun – all these things would’ve stumped a less organised and less relaxed couple, but Conrad and Melissa took it in their stride. At my suggestion, we did the couple session in two parts. Part 1??directly after the ceremony, and part 2 while starters were being served. This gave us the glorious golden light that every photographer dreams of during the second part. The fact that Conrad and Melissa were so accommodating made my job an absolute breeze. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t get teary eyed during their vows, and at seeing a school friend pledge her life to somebody as fantastic as Conrad – well, anybody would’ve shed a tear or two. (And you can see that most people did!) It was my first time photographing a wedding at Gabrielskloof, and my goodness – what a gem of a venue! I loved that the reception was outside, and the dance floor was beneath the stars (only in January!). What a truly unique and wonderful day.

I am forever grateful to Melissa and Conrad for trusting me to take their wedding photos, and I am so glad that they did. It’s not only another beautiful wedding to add to my portfolio, but another experience of photographing the wedding of somebody I know, and to me, that is priceless.
